Alo Alo: A1 lunch for Mt Pleasant office parks

While one waits for their meal, Alo Alo in Arundel Village, Harare, offers freshly baked complementary breads, courgette or butternut.

The butternut bread was soft and fluffy though the butter was a bit hard and difficult to spread.

The main course arrived after the short wait and it was exquisite. The chicken and mushroom combination is a classic and was seasoned to perfection. The chicken breast was nice and tender and the mushroom sauce had a lovely consistency.

The baked potato complemented the main well though it was slightly overcooked and a bit too soft. Alongside was a mini green salad and gem squash.

Alo Alo serves a rather generous portion and I was immediately grateful that I opted for the two rather than three course meal as only a little space remained for me to accommodate the dessert.

When the dessert came I was immediately struck by the lovely presentation. The cake was soft and fluffy with a perfect balance of sweetness. This went well with the fruit and cream.

Though I missed out on the malva pudding, which I do intend to go back for, I was not disappointed by my selection.

The lunchtime dining experience at Alo Alo was superb. The staff was friendly and on hand, the meal was delectable and the atmosphere in the red brick and wooden panelled restaurant was cozy.

Owned and ran by Adrian and Lesley Orford the restaurant is open 7 days a week, 9am to 10pm from Tuesday to Saturday and 9am to 2:30pm on Sundays and Mondays.
