Econet Wireless’s Technites Enterprise — an online registration platform for skilled workers jobs and tradesmen has commenced registrations in Zimbabwe.

The country is the latest in the company’s recruitment drive across Africa where already over 6 000 Technites are registered and readily available for work.

The ‘Technites’ concept entails the provision of outsourced services of trained and vetted workforces of skilled professionals to companies for the installation, maintenance and repairs of a variety of specialised skills, including satellite, solar and fibre throughout Africa.

The drive towards Zimbabwe registrations has come around the same time when the group is pushing to introduce its Kwese Satellite Television into the country. The High Court last week judged that Kwese TV be allowed to provide service in the country, but the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe contested the decision at the Supreme Court.

Technites has carried out several projects in the continent. For instance, the fibre installation in Rwanda on behalf of Liquid Telecom and the satellite installation in Nigeria on behalf of Kwese TV. But the Zimbabwean recruitment campaign extends the Technites service to smaller trades like plumbing, carpentry, generator maintenance, general electrical and handyman work.

Technites business executive head Rahul Patel said: “Our vision is to deliver great workmanship on every job, so we make it a must to train and deploy the best. We do not only guarantee quality of service but also provide great value for money to the customer.

“The business model really depends on maximising productivity through keeping these skilled professionals working and earning continuously.” The company also provides insurance on every job. Meanwhile, the Technites customer App is in the pipeline for launch into Zimbabwe.

Management said this will be a huge convenience for individuals and/or households that wish to procure a highly skilled tradesman from anywhere using their mobile devices. With the launch of the application in Zimbabwe, the service will essentially be an on-demand skilled professionals and skilled technician service available to homes and businesses at the touch of a button.

The platform will allow for the connection of procured jobs to the closest skilled professional in real-time. Elsewhere across the continent, the platform already provides job opportunities to over 6 000 skilled workers at competitive market rates.

This assures a continuous supply of work for many skilled professionals and tradesmen who otherwise rely on word of mouth recommendations
