One of Zimbabwe’s leading players in the insurance sector, Zimnat, last week successfully held a golf tournament at Borrowdale Brooke Golf Course as part of efforts to provide entertainment and enjoyable time away from work for clients and partners from the business community.
Participants at the annual event included Zimnat Group clients from all four of their business units, namely Zimnat General Insurance, Zimnat Life Assurance, Zimnat Financial Services and Zimnat Asset Management.
Zimnat Life chief executive officer Munyaradzi Javangwe, said their main objective was to provide a platform for interaction between Zimnat managers, staff and clients not only in playing golf together, but also to get an opportunity to talk business and socialise in an informal environment.
“Like all other sports, the game requires patience and discipline. Equally, in business, we pay more attention to learning and understanding what compromises profit maximisation than to how much gains we make in a given business period.”
“In that way we learn how to deal with our weaknesses and improve business prospects. Logically, therefore, this argument explains why the majority of golfers also have a business inclination,” said Javangwe.
The first four ball alliance that scooped the number one prize comprised of Doctor Simbarashe Mazonde, Irimayi Madyambudzi, Artwell Marimira and Ngoni Nomatter Makiwa.
One of the winners Marimira thanked Zimnat for providing a platform to network and secure new businesses.
“It’s always good to win. It’s a great feeling. However, I am grateful for the organisers for a successful day. The prizes were awesome. We won gas braai stands and its worth smiling about. It was also an opportunity to reinforce our business values, build networks from fellow business people in a more relaxed environment,” he said.
The day on the greens proved to be an excellent platform for Zimnat managers, staff and clients to not only play some challenging rounds of golf, discuss business opportunities and the services and products Zimnat offers.
The day began at 11 am as the teams of golfers started teeing off and by midday all the groups had started.
Zimnat sponsored all the days drinks and snacks, enough to sustain the players for the back 18 holes.
Loads of exciting prizes were won in female and male categories and the day was capped with a relaxing cocktail in the golf course lounge.
